Rules

Rules

Everyone taking part in the Paavo Nurmi Marathon agrees to follow these rules. The responsible organiser of the Paavo Nurmi Marathon is the Turku Sorts Federation / athletics division.
Please note!
Transferring your personal running number to another person or changing distances is only possible by agreement with the event office. The organiser has the right to charge a €5 transfer fee for each transfer. Groups should notify the event office ahead of time of whose numbers will be picked up collectively and when this will be done.
Race bib
The race bib should be attached to the top section of the front of your running top so that it is easy to read. You may not fold or cover the number. Participants do not have the right to cover or remove advertising printed on the bib by the organiser. You may keep your bib after the race.
The race bib is personal and no one else may run using your bib. If the personal details have not been updated at the event office before the start, participants using someone else’s number will be disqualified. You cannot complete the race without a number. Anyone running without a number will be removed from the course. Please note that the timing chip is attached to the race bib!
Deferring entry and cancellation fee
If you have paid the 8 euro cancellation fee when registering (or afterwards, see instructions here) you have the right to defer your entry until the following year if you cannot participate because of injury or illness. YOU CAN DEFER YOUR ENTRY EITHER BEFORE OR AFTER THE EVENT. Please send your cancellation notice via email to info@paavonurmisports.fi with the subject DEFERRING ENTRY. Please send us a copy of your doctor’s note via email to info@paavonurmisports.fi, fax it to 02-4310812 or post it to Event Consulting Turku Oy, Ketarantie 31, 20100 Turku. You can only defer for yourself and for one year. You will not be deferred automatically; you must re-register the following year once registration has opened. Once you have notified the organisers of your wish to defer, paid your cancellation fee and sent us your doctor’s note, you will receive a code via email as soon as next year’s event has opened which will allow you to register for next year’s event free of charge. The Paavo Nurmi Marathon does not refund entry fees.
